The second room: Kensington, one year on
A quieter floor, a longer bar and a mezzanine that turned out to be the best table in either building.
When we took the second site we assumed it would be a copy of the first with different wallpaper. It has not worked out that way.
The room is quieter, the bar is longer, and people sit at it for an hour before they eat — something that almost never happens on Kensington High Street, where the grill is by the door and everyone wants to watch it.
The surprise has been the mezzanine. We built it for overflow and it has become the room people ring up and ask for by name.
